Information You Send
Search entries such as a name, phone number, or address are sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. The reference's own servers do not retain a copy of those entries. A message sent to us contains only the details you choose to include, which are used to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting systems may record routine log data such as an IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time stamps. We use aggregate information to maintain the service and understand which reference pages are useful. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or advertising measurement when those services are enabled.
How Information Is Used
Technical information helps operate the reference, diagnose faults, measure traffic, and improve its pages. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from this data.
External Resources
Pages link to county and state portals, library collections, archives, and outside search tools. Information submitted on those services is governed by their own policies. Sponsored search results are also supplied by a separate provider.
Who Receives It
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs while supporting the reference. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above when their tools are active. Disclosure occurs when valid legal process requires it, and otherwise is limited to operating needs.
Security and Retention
The reference uses an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for as long as the purposes above require. There are no user accounts, passwords, or personal profiles stored here.
Children's Privacy
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor has sent information, contact us so it can be removed.
Your California Privacy Choices
Depending on coverage and your circumstances, California's Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, may provide rights to know, delete, correct, or opt out of sale or sharing under Civil Code ยง1798.100 et seq. Requests about data held by this reference can be sent through the Contact page. We search the contact mailbox and relevant logs, then remove information that is within our control.
Public records held by California, Orange County, or a city are controlled by their custodians. A request to this reference cannot erase a deed, court file, voter record, or directory held by a public office. Those questions must go to the agency that maintains the source record.
